Oh happy day!

Our days here at the Giles' house are quite dandy! Doug finished school on Monday and now his brother Matt, from Virginia, is here! Doug is so glad to finally be able to play softball with both his brothers (plus he says Matt is a really good fielder)!

Drew has been having a great time playing with his cousin Matthew, so when I am able to upload the pictures of those two cute boys, I will post them. Until then, you are stuck with just words!

Anyway, so glad for school to be done for now, but not too excited for Doug's rotation to start. It'll be 7am-6pm work days for him...not too fun. We'll just enjoy the break while we have it!

a sad goodbye

This is a hard post for me tonight. The whole time I'm writing this, my eyes are full of tears. Today was the last day for Drew to play with his best friend Owen Wilde. Owen and his family are moving tomorrow. I don't know what we're going to do without you Owen. Drew and Owen were able to play all day together today. And then we were able to go to dinner with Brandon and Kyjah and Nick and Lisa Hugentobler, another couple that will be leaving us as well.

All I can say is that we will really miss you guys. No more will I be able to bribe Drew to do something so that he can play with Owen. No longer will we be able to have wrestling matches, and "take downs." Like I said before, I don't know what we'll do without Owen. But I wish his family all the best for their future. You guys definitely deserve the best. I'm hoping that whenever we are up to visit Doug's parents, that we will be able to come see you Kyjah. Take care and know that we love you guys!

So here to finish this post, is a slide show of Drew and Owen's last day together. The last picture in the slide show is Drew and Owen's very last hug...sad. {must stop the tears}

Happy Mother's Day

My mom is a fantastic woman! And it's not only me that thinks so. Drew absolutely adores her! As many of you know, my mom is a flight attendant, so she's gone quite a bit. But this is something she has always wanted to do, and I'm so glad that she has been given the opportunity to do this. Not to mention she and my dad get to come and visit us whenever they choose! (Drew loves this perk)!

My mom is constantly on the go and loves being that way! I think I get that from her! We both hate having to stay at home with nothing to do! She is someone I'm constantly asking advice from. Especially now that I'm in the Young Women. My mom was Stake Young Women's President not too long ago! And, the other day when Drew made a mess of the carpet with lotion, who better to call than someone who probably went through that with one of us kids?!

My love for the water comes from her (and my dad)! We were always at the lake with the boat, tubing or skiing. Look at her wake boarding. In fact, I think this was her first time! She always loves to go camping with the family, which is something my kids will grow up doing!

My mom is also a great bowler. She has her own ball, and shoes! This is something she has taught us all to love. Whenever we are at my parents' house, we always go bowling!

My mom is my greatest friend and I am so lucky to have her in my life. She's been there for me whenever I've needed it. So thank you mom! You are the best! I love you and hope you have a Happy Mother's Day!

two amazing people

The past couple of days has been quite emotional here at the Giles' household. Doug and I were at Costco yesterday having lunch with Drew when Doug's mom called. She was calling to let us know that Doug's aunt Diane had passed away that morning at the hospital in the ICU. Doug and I anticipated that this might happen since she went through quite an ordeal to get to the hospital, but you always wish for the best. Doug tells me that she was a remarkable woman, I didn't really know her. Our prayers go out to my Mother-in-Law and her family for such a loss.

And this evening I was sitting on my couch when my phone beeped. It was my aunt calling to tell me that Dr. Hansen, the doctor that did my C-Section for Drew, had passed away this morning. Apparently he died of a massive heart attack. She said that he was worked on for quite a while, but his heartbeat could not be restored. My heart goes out to his family and his practice. I know his office well and I hope that they all know what a great man he was.

Now, I didn't write this in here for all of you to say you're sorry for our loss or whatever, but I'm putting it on here for the purpose of keeping a journal. This is the only way I journal and I would like to have this on record. But thank you for reading this anyway.

forget it

So you can just forget the last post. My doctor put me on eye drops and benadryl. Benadryl for the allergies, and eye drops for the pink eye. Yes, that's what I said, pink eye. I've never had pink eye in my life, in fact, I was just talking about this with a friend the other day. (Sigh) Oh well, once I start the drops things will be looking better, literally!

Question

Anyone know what kind of allergy medicine is ok to take while you're pregnant? My right eye is all itchy, teary, and bloodshot. I'd like to know what you took so I can run it by my doctor (anything over the counter). Thanks!

children see

I don't know how many of you have seen this, but it hit me. It just shows us what kids are picking up from their parents.
