Missionary work

I just wanted to take the time to say how happy I am of two of my cousins. These two young men are serving missions and helping the work of the Lord move forward. Elder Cavaness is in Yakima, WA, and Elder Quinn is in Lima, Peru. They have the most wonderful spirits and strongest of testimonies. I am so proud of them for the sacrifices they are making to help with God's plan. Click on their names if you'd like to take a look at their blog that their family has put together.

Colyn and Davey, we love you and miss you, but are so proud of you! Keep up the good work!

Double Stroller

I've been wanting a double stroller long before Preston was born. Doug and I talked about it just before Preston came and decided that we probably didn't need one since Drew is very capable of walking. So for the past month and a half I've been using our regular stroller and had Drew stay by me...try to stay by me! But Drew is a wanderer. If he sees something of interest, there he goes. And to get his attention to "get back here" is quite a challenge. So, needless to say, I need a double stroller, and today I got one!!

Doug and I have looked at all sorts of double strollers and finally decided on this one. It's a Sit 'n Stand stroller. The baby goes in front (and it has a bar that you can put on to use the car seat), and Drew goes in back. He can either sit in the seat provided, or stand on the foot rest. This gives him the option of sitting when he needs to, or when I need him to stick by my side! I can't wait to get out and use it! The plus side to this was when we got to Target the stroller was $129.99, but when the checker rang it up, it was $64.95! I couldn't believe it! Here I was going to pay full price for this stroller and...surprise!! (Stupid to think I'm so excited for a stroller)! Thanks babe for allowing me to have this stroller. You won't be sorry!

Yummy goodness!

Lately I've been doing something I haven't done for a few years...making bread! I absolutely love homemade bread and the wonderful aroma it brings into the house! We received a bread maker for our wedding and I used it a ton the first couple of years. But since we moved out here, I haven't used it at all. So, thanks to this wonderful company, my mother-in-law, and the best bread mix ever, I am able to make bread again!

The only thing I do different, is I use my bread maker to make the dough, and then I bake it in a pan in the oven, (just because I like the shape). Of course today I didn't think I'd be able to make bread at all. I put all the ingredients into the bread machine, and pushed start...and pushed it again....and again. No luck. Finally, I started to beat my machine and it magically started! Looks like I need a new bread maker!

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to everybody who gave me money for Christmas. I was able to buy these boots!!

I absolutely love them! I've never had "hooker" boots before! I had to buy them online, and they just arrived today! I can't wait to wear a pair on Sunday!! Thank you!

say cheese...or not!

Preston has been smiling and using his voice a lot lately. I've been trying to capture a picture of the smiles, but every time I get out the camera, the smiling seems to stop. I need to have it out all of the time. I did, however, get a little video clip this morning of him smiling and using that cute little voice. So, here for your enjoyment, is my little guy talking! (I didn't realize that the video is quite dark. Hope you can see him).

p.s. Today is SO cold! It's -1 right now with the wind chill at -12! And last nights wind chill factors were at -25! Seriously!

Primary

I can't believe it, Drew is a Sunbeam! Yesterday was his first day in Primary, which means, no more play dough and no more snack time! I'm absolute fine with the no play dough because Drew always comes home with it on his shoes!

He had a hard time at first, but when Doug picked him up after church, he was all smiles with a big crown on his head. I hope he enjoys Primary from here on out! I can't wait until he has to give a talk or a scripture, or participate in Sharing Time somehow! My little boy is growing up!

Wow! What a week it has been....

And it's not even over yet! This week has been eye opening for me. Doug started rotations again on Monday, so it has been my first week alone with the two kids. (Erica, I'm totally going to need some pointers from you)!

It all started with Monday. Preston had another weight check appointment so I had to take Drew with me as well. It's not that easy carting around two kids...those of you that do it, know! As for Preston's weight, he finally put on two pounds. He now weighs in at 12.1! What a chunk! The doctor is still a little worried about him spitting up so much, so she made us an appointment for the end of the month to see a Pediatric GI Specialist...how fun. I'm just happy that the rice cereal is helping him gain weight.

Tuesday was an adventure just being at home. While I'm trying to feed Preston, Drew needs attention, and then there is a mess somewhere in the house, or Drew is trying to get out his finger paints all by himself! And then when he doesn't get his way, Mr. Attitude shows up and demands to have things....ARGG! Poor Doug, by the time he comes home I am exhausted! I know I'll get the hang of this, I just hope it's soon!

Wednesday was nice because Drew had preschool. Even though the getting up early to get things done to have Drew to school by 9:30 was a challenge, it was nice to just have one child with me. I actually got some grocery shopping done...and my eyebrows waxed!!

Today I managed to have a friend over for lunch with her little baby. Her adorable baby boy is exactly a week older than Preston. It was really nice to to have her here because I hadn't seen her in over a month. Thanks Sarah!

Now, do any of you readers have any suggestions to keep a three year old little boy entertained all day? I'm in need of some activities for him!

Christmas Recap

I know, I know...I'm late at posting about this! Things here have been a little on the busy side so that's why I haven't posted about it yet.

Christmas was an absolute blast this year with Drew. His excitement from the moment he saw that Santa had come to the time he went to bed was so great! He loved every gift he received. In fact, I don't think he really has a favorite because he plays with all of them equally.

Drew didn't really have any games before Christmas, now he has a bunch! He asks to play ALL of them every day!

This year we went to Doug's brother's house for breakfast. Doug's family does what they call "round houses." Round houses are hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage and cheese all piled on top of each other. YUMMY!!

For dinner, we had some friends of ours over. We got to see their adorable new baby!! He is so incredibly cute...and tiny! (Of course, compared to our chunk, all of the other babies are tiny)!!

We had to take a picture of them together! They are only two weeks apart and the difference is quite clear!
This video is mainly for grandparents, but it's of Drew coming down the stairs Christmas morning and opening his gifts from Santa! Enjoy! It's kind of long, but it's fun!
