tall and skinny

So today was Drew's appointment with his wonderful doctor for his height and weight check. She was really happy to tell me that he has grown 4 inches in a year! She said that he will be a tall kid!!! But his weight was a different story. Drew weighs in at a whopping 26.6lbs. Which means in a year he has gained a whole .6lbs. So I have a really tall, skinny child! His doctor isn't too worried about him, but just to make sure she is sending us to a pediatric endocrinologist. I have no idea what that will entale, but it will be nice to hear that he is just fine...skinny, but fine!

On a different note, click here and take this quiz. See if you're a true genius...I was!

You must see

This is a short one, but you must click here to see what my friend Erica posted. It's a tribute to Gordon B. Hinckley.

some fun

On Friday, we had the opportunity of watching Drew's friend Owen. These two boys play so great together! Drew got this big Tonka dump truck for Chirstmas from Doug's parents and he absolutely loves it! This truck is big enough for the boys to sit in and ride on the bed. And that's just what Drew and Owen did! For about a half hour they took turns pushing each other in the dump truck!

Drew's dog, it's huge! He got it from his Aunt Jessica for Christmas. He drags that thing all over the house. We have to try and convince him that "Puppy" needs to stay home whenever we go somewhere. He even has to sleep with it! It is the cutest thing ever. So thank you Jessica for this great gift, he LOVES it!

And last but not least, we made a fort yesterday! Drew sat in it all afternoon, he even wanted to watch a movie while in his "tent"! He had such a blast that this morning he keeps asking me to "get the tent mom....now! Pwease?"

President Hinckley

President Gordon B. Hinckley, what a great man! What a wonderful leader this church has had! President Hinckley died Sudnay night due to complications with age (for more info, go here). But I am so happy for him that he is now back with his sweetheart, to live with her forever! What a wonderful reunion that must have been for them.

I was reading about him last night on Wikapedia.com (they are the only one's who had info on his death) and even though I knew he was a special man, he was honored and respected by so many people. He will be greatly missed here on earth, but I'm sure his reunion in the spirit world was a bitter sweet one.

lunch

I am so happy, Drew ate all of his Wendy's hamburger today at lunch! I know that most of you are thinking...how random, but as most of you don't know, Drew doesn't really eat much, in fact it's bad enough that his pediatrician is seeing him the end of this month for a height and weight check. She doesn't think he's growing like he should be. So for Drew to eat all of his lunch, this is HUGE progress! And not only did he eat it, but he was so excited to eat it, and kept coming back for more. Usually he just gets bored and doesn't finish. So for all of you who think I'm totally retarded for posting about this, I'm sorry, but I had to!

Quiz

My friend Erica had this quiz on her blog. This was my result.

Take this test!
You're a bold, confident orange. A warm, powerful color that indicates a strong, welcoming personality, orange is the mark of people who are social and extroverted by nature. Vibrant, with an upbeat attitude, you have a bright, inviting demeanor. Energetic and fun-loving, you're a real friend-magnet. Your easy charm and unassuming manner make you the sort of person people want to meet and get to know better. Well-rounded and fun to be around, you enjoy helping others, so it's no surprise that orange also symbolizes attraction. Orange is an extraordinary color — for an extraordinary person.

my new look

I've been wanting a change for a while now, you know...with my hair. So last night my friend Kristan colored it for me. It's a dark brown and I absolutely love it! She had to use three different browns to get it this dark and then she put a hint of red in it! Doug wanted it black, but I'm not ready for that and besides I don't know how well I'd look with black hair, so we compromised and I went dark brown! So here you go....my new look!

more success

We are having more success with the potty here at the Giles' residence. Drew has now not only gone #1, but has successfully gone #2 as well. Unfortunately, Drew will only go for Doug, he for some reason won't go for me. It must be that he Doug knows how to teach him and I don't! Hopefully that will change since Doug isn't around during the day! I'll keep trying though!

Ok, so my friend Kristan put this on her blog, and it is the absolute truth. The weather man said that it was 15* this morning, but with the wind chill it was almost -20. This is seriously what it feels like!

excitement

Something great happened last night...I mean really fantastic, and I missed it because I was in class. Dum, da da dum, Drew peed on the toilet! Doug sat him on the toilet last night for try numero uno, and of course, nothing happened. So Doug decided Drew needed a little demonstration and showed him how it was done. So after a nice warm bath and playing with his foam letters, he got to sit on the potty for try number two. Doug said that this is what he heard next, "Daddy, I go poop! I go poop daddy!" Doug said that he looked in the toilet and saw no poop, but pee! So Doug did a happy dance and told Drew what a great job he did, and Drew gave himself a nice big hand! While in class my phone rang, so when I had a break I listened to the message left and it was Drew. "I go potty on the toiwet mommy!" I was so happy, and sad, all at the same time. Sad that I missed his great achievement, but happy that we are possibly getting to that big milestone I've been dying to get to...no diapers!

movie date with mom

I took Drew to see the new Veggie Tales movie, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, and he loved it. He sat there and watched it and then at the end he was dancing to the music! He also enjoyed the fact that his friends Ella and Mailee were there as well. It was fun for me to have this little date with Drew. He and I seem to run errands lately and this was perfect for us, especially for him since he loves movies!

thank you

I have to say a big thank you to Erica. She is the one who gave my blog the new header! I don't want anyone giving me the credit for it since I have no idea how to do it! I've asked her to come to my house some time and teach me how to really use my Photoshop, and lucky for me, she agreed! So THANK YOU Erica for your help, you are great!

story and song time

We went over to the Waukee Library today. On Thursday mornings they have a song and reading time for young children. The girl who was in charge this morning was so cute. She got the kids to sing do the actions to the songs, and to really listen to the stories she was telling. I think it's so great for these kids to learn to sing and interact with others, plus to sit and listen to an entire story. We'll definitely be there next week.

Drew and Owen

This is Drew and his cute friend Owen! Last night we were invited for pizza and football at the Wilde's house! Drew and Owen are playing in Owen's "Cars" tent! This is them looking out the window of it! Those two boys played so well together, we adults couldn't stop laughing at them! Thanks for the fun you guys!

What a week!

What a week! It's been so crazy that I haven't had the chance to blog. Doug and I made it home safely from Utah. We left Tuesday morning at about 10:30 am and got to Iowa Wednesday morning at about 5 am. Of course we did make a stop up in Park City at the outlets! Drew didn't drive back with us...there wasn't any way he would fit in the car after we packed it up...so he got to fly home with his Grandpa Quinn (thanks again dad for doing that)!
We had such a great time in Utah and Idaho with family. Christmas was great and Drew now has WAY too many toys! I think we'll be going through them all and boxing up some! Drew did get to go sledding for the first time in Utah and absolutely loved it! In fact, every time he would sled down the hill he kept saying, "Again, again!" He wasn't very happy when we told him just one more time and then it's back to a warm house!

Up in Idaho, Drew got to help his Grandma Giles make gingerbread cookies, but he had more fun eating the dough then the cookies I think! And he also learned to kick the snow off of the really talll bushes at my parents church!

But the most fun thing now, he is talking in full sentences! And he jabbers all of the time! He sings the ABC's thanks to Leap Frogs magnetic abc set! And his favorite song that he's been singing is Santa Clause is Coming to Town! You'd have to hear it! I'll try and get video of it sometime! Well I hope you all enjoy your weekend, I know we will!
